Cesare is from Bassano del Grappa, Italy. He obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the University of Padova under the supervision of Prof. Cristiano Zonta working on molecular recognition events, organic synthesis and spectroscopy. The following step in his pathway was the Ph.D. in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering obtained at EPFL under the joint supervision of Prof. Kay Severin from the Laboratoire de Chimie Supramol\u00e9culaire and Dr. Cristian Pezzato. During the doctoral times, he investigated the synthesis and the aqueous photochemistry of merocyanine photoacids, with particular emphasis on synthesis and spectroscopy of these photoreactive chromophores.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Fan Liu (PhD candidate)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Fan is from Hunan in the mountainous southern China. She completed her Masters at Zhejiang University in 2022 where she worked on B\u2013H activation and functionalization of carborane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her project focuses on the application of selectively functionalized carborane in radiochemistry.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Deborah B\u00e4cker (PhD candidate – EIC funded)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Deborah completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Freiburg in 2022. During her Bachelor’s thesis, she specialized on sugar chemistry in the field of natural product synthesis under the guidance of Prof. Reinhard Br\u00fcckner. In her Master’s thesis, she worked in the fields of  molecular biology and biochemistry with Prof. Oliver Einsle. Since starting her PhD in February 2024, Deborah shifted gears to focus on the field of supramolecular chemistry. Her current research is pivoting around the design and synthesis of rotaxanes to selectively target cancer cells with radioactivity. Outside the lab, Deborah is an active sportswoman who is particularly passionate about soccer and tennis and enjoys spending time hiking or skiing in the outdoors.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Feize Li (Visiting Profossor)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Feize Li is from Chengdu in China and completed his doctorate in 2019 at Sichuan University, where he joined as an assistant professor in the same year.\u00a0He is now an associate professor in the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology at Sichuan University. His current research interest is focused on targeted radionuclide-therapy, especially those based on\u00a0211<\/sup>At and supramolecular chemistry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
